Artist Statement

This piece exists as a short story written by the artist choreographed along with a compilation of imagery extracted from the internet –aside from three self-portraits of the artist.  It attempts to chronicle a relationship, a relationship between two people and a relationship with oneself, through an assortment of landscape imagery.  The piece explores the notion of the availability of internet imagery in relation to the formation of some sort of collective unconscious experience of place generated through a constantly growing system of imagery-exchange.  Landscape is therefore both real and virtual, private and communal, familiar and exotic, known and unknown.  The ever-expanding technology of cyberspace is fore grounded in the piece as a medium via which traditional notions of biography and self-portrait are blurred.  It suggests an in-between space where self and other converge through an alternative form of knowledge.
